The Art in Motion project was conceived in 2001 when Alberta College of Art and Design (ACAD) approached Calgary Transit with a unique collaboration opportunity that would profile ACAD visual arts and students within a non-traditional environment – a Calgary Transit bus. This project emerged from the need to create greater awareness within the general public about visual art and became a series of posters that had both the images of the art works created by ACAD students and of the student with an artist statement briefly explaining their work. The posters reflected the diversity of the students, their works and the programs at ACAD including sculpture, glass, printmaking, photography, painting, jewelry and ceramics. The Art in Motion poster project was extremely well received by the students and artists who participated as well as the transit riders. We are very excited to be bringing this project to Ottawa through the generous contribution of OC Transpo.
