Kris Demeanor and His Crack Band

Calgary native Kris Demeanor is a truly original musical talent. One part spoken word, one part hip hop, one part folk-country, one part rock; you have to see him LIVE to appreciate how all these parts fit so well together. In 1994, Calgary’s Kris Demeanor formed Tinderbox, a power folk trio that played everything from poetry stages to punk festivals. The CD No, Really, Let Go was released in 1996, resulting in two Calgary Folk Festival appearances and opening dates with Jann Arden and Great Big Sea. His self-titled debut CD released in December 1999 tackled themes of lethargy, cradle robbing, and sleeplessness. A February 2000 spotlight on CBC's 'Definitely not the Opera' led to subsequent showcases at Vancouver's New Music West and the 2000 Calgary Folk Festival. Performances on bills with Rufus Wainwright, The Rheostatics, and Hawksley Workman have proven Kris Demeanor to be a live performer capable of wide ranging styles, potently mixing the thoughtful with the frantic. Regularly accompanying Kris on stage are the bold, beautiful, and multi-talented Diane Kooch and Chantal Vitalis, formerly of Calgary's maud. Percussionist Peter Moller is a recent fixture in Kris Demeanor's Crack Band. This evening of original, critically-acclaimed rock will leave you wanting more.
