Mike Plume

Mike Plume bought his first guitar in 1985, just before moving to Bonnyville, Alberta. From 1987 through 1993, he toured all over western Canada in various rock and roll bands. But for the most part, he spent a lot of time playing guitar and learning a truckload of songs. He soon became confident as a songwriter. “I put out my first album in 1993, and from then ‘til now it's been at least 20 guitars, a ton of miles, a boatload of shows, a handful of records and more fun, laughs and friends than anyone should be allowed,” says Plume. He now divides the bulk of his time between Edmonton and Nashville.

The Populars

The Populars are three guys from the northern Alberta bush who are basically a straight-up rock band with a lot of energy and attitude. They toured non-stop for seven years (averaging 250 dates a year) and gained praise for putting on one hell of a live show. In 2002, when Mike Plume decided to go acoustic, the band started to work on original material. They took their core punk roots and merged them with the rock and pop influences they picked up over the years, and became The Populars. Their music is catchy, loud, heavy, simple, and raw. It's about passion over fashion, and that's the bottom line.
