In this fun-filled, family-oriented performance, learn about aboriginal stories, culture and history through traditional and contemporary dance, music, theatre and storytelling. With all dancers between the ages of 11 and 20, Red Thunder: The Next Generation follow in their predecessors’ footsteps in the celebration of the unique heritage of their Plains Indian background. With the steady beat of Mother Earth resounding from the drum, the group presents a colourful and energetic display of dances of the Plains Indian people with fancy footwork, exquisite costuming, and stories of their ancestors are presented in a. This company is based on the Tsuu T’ina Nation reserve, on the outskirts of Calgary. Kehewin Native Performance is a highly acclaimed dance troupe that has toured both nationally and internationally. As you will see in the piece entitled Trickster Trilogy, their blend of the traditional and contemporary will inspire and delight. DerRic Starlight’s unique brand of puppetry rounds out this fantastic family line-up of music, stories and dance.
