Based on the novel by Giller Prize nominee Miriam Toews, Summer of My Amazing Luck is the story of Lucy who lives in a Winnipeg Housing Project, and hardly speaks to her father. Her mom is dead. She didn’t grieve properly, and as a result she became promiscuous. She doesn’t know who the father of her child is. In a beat-up van full of kids and toys, Lucy and her best friend Lish go on a road trip. Nominated for a Stephen Leacock Award for Humour and part of NAC English Theatre’s 2004 On The Verge festival of new play readings, the play is a hilarious and heartbreaking journey that takes Lucy into her memories and her future. She discovers hurt and happiness, the joy of having a son, and most of all, her amazing luck. Theatre Network was founded in 1975 with the objective of producing plays "about Alberta for Albertans" with an overall mandate to foster the development of original regional theatre, and to promote the arts in Alberta through theatre.
