I Am Standing Here Before You

The Brian Webb Dance Company

I Am Standing Here Before You is an interdisciplinary dance performance integrating dance with spoken text and video imagery.  Choreographer/performer, Brian Webb, and video maker, Tim Folkmann explore the theme of layering of memory in the aging body,  a theme which is reinforced in the music for the work, Alfred Schnittke’s Piano Quintet performed live on stage.

Litost

Helen Husak

Inspired by Milan Kundera’s The Book of Laughter and Forgetting, Helen Husak explores the visceral push and pull of being trapped in the emotion "litost" in her piece of the same name. Husak’s raw physicality combined with composer Amir Amiri’s evocative sound score promises to be a passionate journey into the human soul. Husak has worked with many accomplished artists, the most significant being a mentorship based on solo creation with renowned choreographer Ottawa-based Tedd Robinson.

Still

Tania Alvarado’s Still, reveals a woman in the midst of a shattering moment; suspending and absorbed in time, she propels forward in eruptions of movement.  This piece, accompanied by live acoustic and electric guitar, is based on the concept of somnambulism as a creative process.
